Resilient Flooring

cork flooring and luxury vinyl

I love watching the frequent reaction of surprise and “surely that is too cheap a look” to my suggestion clients should consider resilient flooring for their home over products such as hardwood flooring.
Resilient flooring includes vinyl, linoleum, cork and rubber. It is potentially the most cost-effective option for your home once you take into account ongoing maintenance, longevity, etc.
Being an engineered floor, resilient flooring includes sheet products such as linoleum, luxury vinyl tile, and luxury vinyl plank. It provides exceptional performance in high traffic areas. Resilient flooring can be moisture resistant, meaning it is the perfect product for the kitchen or bathroom where moisture is a constant issue. Resilient flooring is extremely easy to maintain. Resilient sheet flooring provides a smooth surface free from cracks and crevices that allows for quick and easy cleanup of dirt, dust and mess.
It is equally the design expression that should appeal to the homeowner for both traditional and modern designs. The technology is such, that there is an endless range of product finishes and colours available. And the best quality products should not be considered an entry-level product. They perform well, and cost appropriately, with the higher value products in a similar cost range to other flooring products such as tiles, and timber flooring.
I personally love the varied, rich and diverse colours of Marmoleum Sheet – a brand of lino. Linoleum was invented in 1855 and is considered a “green” product due to its natural content including linseed oil. Many of us will remember its popularity as a benchtop in kitchens many decades ago. Those kitchen tops that remain today as do the floors can look as good as the day they were laid.
