Revamp your old furniture with chalk paint to freshen up your home

Annie Sloan, decorative paint expert from Annie Sloan Paints suggest revamping older furniture with Chalk Paint to make them fresh and bright.

ARTICLE Annie Sloan

The possibilities are endless when it comes to revamping your chest of drawers.
My paint, Chalk Paint™, is so easy to use – the trickiest part is choosing your colour!
If you don’t know what colour to use, stick with a white or something neutral as it will go with anything. If you want to go a little mad, you could paint it in my colour Graphite, which is a strong, almost-black neutral.
If your home is already filled with a lot of neutral colours, why not paint it a wonderful bright red and then maybe use my Dark Soft Wax, which will richen and deepen the colour a little. Using wax will also bring out wonderful texture in the paint.
Annie designed her range to follow an artist’s paintbox – there are 33 colours and they can be mixed together to create many more. Chalk Paint™ is only sold in independent shops and all the stockists are fully trained Colour Experts offering expert advice on colour and techniques.
And don’t worry about making mistakes – if you decide the colour is not quite right for you, you can simply paint straight over it or put a wash over it to lighten it a little. The unique thing about Annie’s paint is that there is no need to prime first – you can simply get stuck in!
