This 1920s Remuera home had served its family well over the years, but once the younger generation moved on to university, the home’s owners were ready to reclaim their space.
With two design concepts in hand, they reached out to Renovation Consultant
Corey was quick to communicate these issues with the owners and explained the expected additional costs. Building standards in the 1990s were not at the level they are today, so Corey brought in engineers and architects to update the home's structural integrity and make it weathertight. Meanwhile, the crew transformed the owners’ bedroom to a full master suite and added a powder room.
When the project wrapped up seven months later, the final cost came in at $320,000. The owners were aware of the cost increases every step of the way and prioritised their budget as secondary to their safety. The work added value to their home, making it a worthwhile investment in more ways than one.
Despite the challenges along the way, Corey ensured everything ran as smoothly as possible. And, thanks to his great relationships with suppliers, materials were one aspect that he could trust not to go awry. GIB, paint and other building materials were sourced through Mitre10 Onehunga which Corey said, “had a great response time and always made us feel important.” Every bit of support helps during a high-pressure renovation.
It’s hard to ignore the bespoke louvre's welcoming feeling when moving from the lounge out to the upgraded deck. Complete with low-profile overhead heating units, the outdoor living now provides optimal comfort year round. Matching window frames and fresh weatherboard cladding complete the new facade to a quality finish.
Inside and the transformation of the master suite is just as impressive. Emerald green tiles make the space feel both moody and inviting, with lighting around the mirrors ensuring a stylish yet functional result. A contrasting colour scheme of dark and light colour delivers a timeless combination, with plentiful natural light achieved through the addition of a new skylight. Floor to ceiling marble is reminiscent of what you’d find in a luxury hotel.
A spacious walk-in wardrobe also adds to the aesthetic without compromising on function; his-and-hers sides with organisation built-in shoe racks, drawers, clothing rods, and open-shelving, complete this remarkable renovation.
The owners are ecstatic with their investment, which has also seen the property increase in value. They “absolutely love” the results, as does Corey - his favourite part being the outdoor living space. Are you planning for a full home renovation in Auckland?
