A kitchen renovation in Tauranga to let more light in

When the time came for these homeowners to modernise their 30-year-old kitchen, they contacted Refresh Renovations’ Tauranga Renovation specialists, who they had previously worked with on their rental property’s renovation. Refresh provided them with a hand-picked team as well as a fully-managed design and build.

Modern kitchen design

While the original kitchen had the bones of a great space, it was dark and cut-off from the home’s living areas. The homeowners wanted to bring more light in and adjust the layout so that it would support modern living and socialising. 
With the support of Mitre 10, Refresh provided the homeowners with a new design and fixed-quote that met their budget requirements. The new design included new luxury vinyl flooring as well as updated fixtures and fittings - provided by Flooring First and Mitre 10 Mega. It was decided that the breakfast bar was the main culprit for the kitchen feeling cut-off from the rest of the house - so it had to go. It was replaced with a chic cubed island that features plenty of storage and significantly improves the kitchen’s accessibility.

The original benchtops were replaced with stone, while a simple glass splashback keeps the new look consistent and tidy. The kitchen’s cabinetry was updated and a new white colour scheme included within the new design. This paired with new recessed lighting really helps to brighten and open up the space.
To complete the project, the renovation specialist worked with a trusted team of designers, plumbers, electricians, kitchen installers and flooring installers - to name a few. The Refresh renovation specialist was the central point for both the homeowners and trades to talk to throughout the project, which helped to keep communication clear and the project on track. As a result, the homeowners were presented with their new kitchen three months following the renovation start date, for $55,000. The light and bright kitchen they wanted has definitely been achieved.
