Homeowners in Willowbridge, Texas were not only looking to renovate their kitchen but also their master bathroom. While their vision for the spaces remained with the same layout, they wanted a new aesthetic and feel for each space. They contacted Refresh Renovations Sugarland and Kevin, came out to visit the site and discuss the project with the homeowners. During the planning stage, Kevin and his team developed a scope of work, a design, a budget, and timeline for renovations. The planning phase of the project was critical to the success of the remodel. Delays in the supply chain created a 3 month lag prior to cabinetry delivery, while early purchase of tiling material and fixtures was necessary to secure pricing and availability in a period of short supply. Kevin consulted with the owners to split the bathroom and kitchen scopes into separate scheduling phases. This allowed Refresh to procure all materials at the outset and optimize the construction schedule without increasing the contract price.
After finalizing the plan with the Homeowners a start date for renovations was scheduled!
Carpeting in bathrooms was popular in master bathrooms back in the 1980’s, so it was one of the first items to be torn out, then followed by the rest of the old fixtures and finishes.

As the cabinetry in the master bathroom was still in great shape, homeowners opted to re-use, however they were painted and upgraded with new modern hardware to fit the new look of the space. The bathroom also received new countertops and undermount sinks. The tiler water proofed the shower, and tub surround, then began work on tilling the shower, and tub surround. Finally, a frameless glass shower surround was installed, as well as large, frame-lit mirrors at the vanity, greatly increasing the light in the space.
Refresh returned to the residence two weeks following completion of the bathroom to commence work on the kitchen upgrades, ensuring the activities coincided with cabinetry availability. The client had a creative idea to add a wine rack next to the existing pantry in the kitchen by removing a display nook on the opposite side of the wall and “repurposing” the space to accommodate the wine rack. The pre-panning on this element was key, as Refresh was able to facilitate communication between the framer, and cabinetry builder to achieve a custom fit in a challenging space. The electrician removed the old large flush ceiling lights and installed new modern can lights in the kitchen. Custom, shaker style cabinets, with under cabinet lighting and black modern hardware were installed, updated backsplash, new countertops laid and an undermount sink was put in place.
With the main work of renovations completed the team began on the finishing touches. Minor baseboard work was completed, and the space was painted with fresh new color, selected by the client. Plumbing and electrical fixtures were installed, renovations were completed, the kitchen and adjacent spaces were professionally cleaned, and the Homeowners began utilizing their new spaces!
The kitchen and bathroom began with outdated materials and fixtures, and were in need of a ‘Refresh’. What a transformation the spaces received! Today, both spaces have new fixtures and finishes that have brightened, modernized and created new beautiful spaces for the Homeowners to enjoy for years to come!
