It’s said the best things come in small packages and Refresh Renovation Consultants Team Manawatu have certainly delivered on that! When a small bathroom needed upgrading and made both safer and more accessible for the property’s homeowner, Team Manawatu came to the party with a modern, stylish, and functional space that has allowed their client to confidently remain in her home for years to come.

Making space for independent living

Renovation projects come with their challenges, whether big or small. Maximising the use of space is integral to a successful outcome, which is what Team Manawatu needed to achieve for this renovation.

Tasked with transforming a small bathroom into a safe and easily accessible space to provide for independent living, Team Manawatu had just 4 sqm to work with, but work with it they did.

Seeking style with function

The space was a small bathroom in a single storey 1980s home in Fielding. The owner wanted to remain in her property but changes were required to ensure the space enabled safe independent living.

Working with both the homeowner and her family, who lived out of town, Team Manawatu Renovation Consultant, Andrea Yeatman and Project Manager Zoe Blease, helped to plan the project, presenting a new design for the space, pricing the work, and coordinating the project from concept to completion.

Keeping their client’s family involved in planning the renovation ensured Andrea and Zoe had the full confidence of family members that the project was being managed professionally, with outcomes that offered peace of mind to the family, and out client.

Small but mighty design

The original bathroom contained a corner shower, vanity unit, bath, and standing storage cupboard which left very little room to move. Andrea and Zoe got to work to transform the space, removing the bath, vanity, and storage cupboard.

Working with their trusted network of local trades professionals, including a builder, plumber, electrician, tiler, floorer, stopper, and painter, Andrea and Zoe turned their client’s dated bathroom into a modern space that not only has flair but delivers on the function she needs to live safely and independently.

The new shower allows for easy access, with a contemporary glass wall, oversized grey tiles, and inset shelving. A handrail adds a safety element to the space while striking black faucets ensure a contemporary vibe and a heated towel rail delivers that luxury finishing touch.

A floating vanity with benchtop basin is highlighted with natural light from the bathroom window, while neighbouring bench space provides ample room for toiletries. No storage is lost in this new design as the vanity comes with deep set drawers that are easily accessible.

Patterned floor tiling adds a fun vibe to the space, complementing the grey and white tones throughout.

A true transformation

Once small and cluttered, these four square metres of bathroom space now provide their homeowner with ample room to shower in a safe and stylish environment. The chosen colour palette has created a modern ambience with carefully selected and placed fixtures ensuring accessibility has been achieved. A true transformation has been delivered!
