Do I require a building consent for my house extension?

Most likely the answer will be yes. In most cases, where the footprint of the house will be altered, or where structural and engineering work is required, a building consent from Wellington City Council will be required. Other consents such as recourse consent may also be needed, and your project must adhere to strict rules and be completed in compliance with the building code.
