Refresh Renovations occupies a unique spot in New Zealand’s franchise sector, and now it’s looking to achieve a bold new objective – to spread its wings into offshore markets.

It’s no secret that the residential renovations sector has traditionally been rife with budget blowouts and disputes. In New Zealand it’s a problem Refresh Renovations has been successfully solving since 2009, and now the company is exporting its unique home renovation franchise business model to overseas markets.

Aucklander Jon Bridge is not a builder, but the company he co-founded to tackle inefficiencies in the home renovation sector is now one of the biggest of its type in the world.

Refresh Renovations brings all of that and more with its home updating franchise. “We provide a low-stress remodeling experience, from a bathroom face-lift to a whole home remodel,” says Matthew Pelham, franchise operations manager.

The New Zealand-based home renovation franchise leveraged local home shows and had a unique business model that made sense to him.

When it comes to renovating, the devil really is all in the details. Most renovation projects run into unexpected problems, delays, and budget blow-outs.

Founders Chris Caiger, Jon Bridge and Barry Bloomfield established a business strategy and marketing specialist called Traffic in 2001. Traffic quickly became the leading business growth specialist in the New Zealand building industry.

The New Zealand-based company, which has over 170 franchised operations across North America, the UK, Australia, and New Zealand, has grown to become one of the largest full- service renovation brands in the world.

Episode 1 tackles the master bedroom and the landscaping. However, the team is faced with challenges along the way when they find out that the floor boards have rotted, the old clay pipes throughout the property are blocked and need replacing and complaints to council force the landscaping part of the project to be halted. Despite these hurdles, the team is able to produce a stunning main bedroom with en suite -- making the most of the spectacular views.
