A reinvented kitchen and bathroom in Hamilton

A bathroom which reminded them of a ski chalet and an impractical kitchen layout prompted these Hamilton homeowners to contact Refresh Renovations. Their modern home wasn’t meeting their style or living requirements, and Refresh’s design and build process provided a welcome solution.

A new bathroom and kitchen design

The couple’s key objectives included 1) redesigning their kitchen so that they could easily cook together and 2) modernising their bathroom and removing the timber panelling. To carry out this work themselves, the homeowners would have needed to hire and manage separate tradespeople; including plumbers, builders, electricians, gibbers and painters. By working with Refresh, they were able to enjoy one point of contact who managed every aspect of their project’s design, build and decorating. 
“What we wanted to achieve was a more useable kitchen/dining area, allowing us the ability for us both to use the kitchen at the same time, improve organisation/ flow and ultimately integrating, seamlessly, the kitchen with the meals/seating areas, for a better and more social space”, tells homeowner Daniel, adding: “We were recommended Refresh Renovations by a friend who told us about the process, ease and personal approach to their project.”  
Local Refresh Renovations specialists Mandy and Lawrie Foster created a design that would suit the couple’s budget. This involved planning a cosmetic upgrade for the bathroom, ensuite and toilet as well as updating the kitchen layout. To create more space for the couple to cook together, it was decided that some of the cupboard in the hallway behind the kitchen would be incorporated into the new layout.
“This, in turn, meant shifting the hot water cylinder and associated solar panel system”, tells Mandy.

From there, the team demolished a wall, opening up the kitchen and creating far more room for a spacious new layout. Luxury vinyl flooring was installed in the kitchen and dining area and an attractive tiled splashback was then installed along with waterfall benchtops, black tapware and pendant lighting - completely reinventing the original kitchen.

They always kept us in the loop, even when we were away on holiday for a month. We felt everything was going to be done to such a high standard, without compromise by them or their excellent team, and when things went a bit wrong (as you would expect with any renovations) they communicated excellently, had a plan that we all agreed on and implemented it swiftly, without leaving us any doubt that it wouldn't be better than we thought it could be. All the workers/subcontractors were excellent to work with, personable and contactable if we needed things.”
