The new owners of this Chartwell home wanted to stamp their style on the property’s two bathrooms and combined laundry area. To ensure a successful renovation among COVID restrictions, they sought professional project management from Refresh Renovations.
After purchasing their Chartwell home, Karen and Daron didn’t want to waste any time making it their own. However, they were wary of starting a renovation, given the risk of disruption from COVID restrictions. To ensure a successful renovation project, they contacted Refresh Renovations to inquire about updating their home’s main bathroom and the downstairs bathroom with a combined laundry area.
Local Hamilton Renovation Consultant Steve Roper and his Project Manager Nadeene Howe came on board to oversee the renovation and navigate any issues presented by COVID.
Karen and Daron envisaged a staggered renovation, with an architect involved for structural alterations. But first, they needed to know how much the project would cost. Steve worked closely with the couple to determine the scope of their plans and provide a price estimate.
Upon review, Karen and Daron decided against changing any walls and were happy to renovate the bathroom and laundry areas within the existing spaces. They also wanted to minimise costs where they could, so they committed to painting the upstairs bathroom themselves.
When construction began, Nadeene took charge and managed the day-to-day site operations for Karen and Daron. To begin with, the crew demolished the laundry and bathroom area downstairs, but encountered some plumbing issues in the process. Nadeene was able to resolve this by working with the builder and plumber to reroute pipes, ensuring the renovation was able to continue.
Upstairs, the bathroom was deconstructed in preparation for new plastering, tiling, and bathware. Once that was finished, Karen and Daron could get painting.
With the renovation running so smoothly, Karen and Daron found room within the $65,000 quote to upgrade one of the bathrooms with a Solatube. COVID did affect the project slightly, but Nadeene stayed the course without inconveniencing Karen and Daron, and the crew finished the project in eight weeks.
Renovated to a minimalist style, the bathrooms are now bright, airy, and spacious.
Vertical stack bond tiles encapsulate the upstairs shower and provide a feature background for the freestanding soaker tub. The timber trim at the top of the tiling behind the tub has been left natural, a nice variation from the rest of the white trim.
Each bathroom has a floating timber vanity with concealed and open storage, a squoval basin, and a circular mirror framed by LED lighting. The brushed silver fixtures are a sophisticated departure from the shiny chrome commonly used in bathrooms. Subtle design elements like these are what give these bathrooms their effortlessly chic look.
Steve and Nadeene led this renovation to a superb finish, resulting in two full bathrooms with a clean, minimalist design and a fully functional laundry unit. Karen and Daron are thrilled with the renovated spaces. Having professional project management for their project meant their experience was straightforward and stress-free, COVID restrictions notwithstanding.
