Kia Ora. I'm Nikora Morehu, and I work as an Apprentice Builder for Jim Gleeson and the KKG Refresh team.

I completed my education at Mount Albert Grammar between 2018 and 2022. My hobbies include fishing, diving, spending time with friends and family, participating in sports, Kapa Haka, as well as recently discovering a passion for Waka Ama and crossfit.

In early 2024, I relocated back to Auckland after taking a gap year post-school. During that gap year, I resided in Mangawhai and worked in forestry, engaging in activities including logging, planting and spraying. Unsure about my career path after school, I found inspiration from my older brother, who is currently completing a building apprenticeship.

Transitioning into the building industry with Jim and the Refresh team has been really rewarding and fulfilling. I acknowledge the challenges ahead but have the support of a fantastic team and inspiring mentors in Jim and the lead builders and senior apprentices at KKG Refresh who are eager to guide me through this journey.

My future goal is to learn, gain more knowledge and experience in the carpentry industry so that in the future I will be able to use all the skills and knowledge I have picked up along the way to help my family with anything they need built, and give back to communities, but also hopefully build a home for my future wife and kids.
